Welcome to the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation!

From Dr. Michael Song, Executive Director

Our vision is to be the world's leading research and education institute for entrepreneurship and innovation.

And we're well on our way. We've been developing world-class education programs with four distinguished features:

The Institute's Academic Programs include:

All students taking a concentration in entrepreneurship will create and run a real company before graduation.

Attracting World-Class Faculty

Our internationally renowned faculty is one of the most productive in the world, publishing 4.25 academic journal articles per faculty since 2007.

UMKC has committed 15 new tenured or tenured track faculty to the Institute, including 5 endowed chairs.

Providing Experiential Learning

The Enterprise Development Laboratory is an experiential learning  laboratory for the development and incubation of new businesses.

Researchers, business leaders and experts-in-residence who understand technology, commercialization and market possibilities work with students and community entrepreneurs on new ventures.

Students from all disciplines have the opportunity to graduate with a toolbox, road map and real experience in starting and running new businesses.

The following entrepreneurial activities sharpen students' leadership, teamwork and entrepreneurial skills:

The Entrepreneurial Residential Living and Learning Community provides a new housing concept for students interested in making a difference and uncovering fresh ways of doing business.

Connecting and Growing Business

The Institute’s Business Acceleration Services are a gateway to an array of business, management and technology services.

The Institute’s facility is home to 17 organizations that provide start-up and legal expertise, training, and financial, management and marketing assistance to small businesses and entrepreneurial firms.

Through KCSourceLink, the Institute connects entrepreneurs and small business owners to the business-building resources they need through a regional network of more than 140 nonprofit business development partners.

Thank-you for visiting us.  We welcome any innovative ideas.
