What would $10,000 in seed funding do for your venture?
The Regnier Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation is excited to host the sixth annual Regnier Venture Creation Challenge Competition on May, 4 and May 5, 2017. The RVCC event is a two-day, business plan and speed pitch competition promoting entrepreneurship and new venture development for university students in Missouri and Kansas and current Entrepreneurship Scholars.
The competition, underwritten by a generous gift to the University of Missouri – Kansas City by the Regnier Family Foundations, is designed to encourage venture creation through a forum in which students and program participants can present new venture concepts to local investors, business leaders, mentors and judges. In 2016, eligible teams competed for $55,000 in total awards and seed funding!
How to Compete:
Step 1: Gather your team. Teams consisting of 1 to 6 members are eligible to apply.
Step 2: Submit your business plan (20 pages maximum) by Friday, April 21, 2017. View submission instructions and guidelines.
Business plans will be evaluated by judges and qualifying teams will advance to the elevator pitch and venture exposition portion of the competition on Thursday, May 4, 2017.
Step 3: Select one member of your team to make a two-minute elevator pitch. View elevator pitch instructions and guidelines.
Step: 4: Prepare your showcase table for the venture exposition, where teams will answer specific questions from the judges. View venture expo instructions and guidelines.
Selected semi-finalists will advance to day two of the competition on Friday, May 5, 2017.
Step 5: Prepare a 15-minute presentation pitching your venture idea with an additional 5 minutes to answer questions from a panel of judges.
Teams will be evaluated based on their value proposition, market feasibility, financial feasibility, ability to execute, launch, and the potential impact of their venture. View semifinalist presentation judging criteria.
Selected teams will advance to the finals.
Step 6: Congratulations! You’re in the top four teams. Prepare a final, 15-minute presentation pitching your venture and prepare to respond to questions from a panel of judges for an additional 10 minutes.
