Reasons for Joining: The practice of entrepreneurship and innovation has been proven to be the driving force for modern business and economy. Hence, the education on this aspect is the key for providing both the theoretical inputs and applicable tools for the entrepreneurial endeavors. The Regnier Institute is not only a  prestigious institution for theoretical research, but also provides a well-organized arena upon which students and researchers can put theory into practice by participating in the Entrepreneurship Scholars Program. It is this dynamic entrepreneurial environment created by the Institute professors, faculty members, and student enthusiasts that attracts me.

Research Interests: Interactive Decision/Game Theory, Strategic Decision Making, Decision Science, New Product Development, Organizational Innovation and Entrepreneurship

Reasons for Joining: In recent years, access to less expensive and better-performing databases has allowed many industries to record a rich set of competitive information. How to use all of this new information is not clear in many cases because instructive frameworks in the context of an environment where information has become more evenly distributed haven’t been tested or developed. As firms learn more about how to make decisions with new sources of information, how to access new innovation and license their own developments, there is a real opportunity for researchers in Economics and Entrepreneurship to add value and direction. But opportunities to make improvements to analytics-based decision making and commercialization of technology will require an interdisciplinary approach between Business and Economics in order to synthesize ideas that inform new theory and applied methods. Indeed, it is an exciting time to be a PhD student. The interdisciplinary curriculum through the i.Ph.D. program at UMKC offers the right environment to support important research that crosses traditional disciplinary boundaries.
