The undergraduate entrepreneurship program offered by the Henry W. Bloch School of Management at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) earned the distinction of being named the 2014 National Model Undergraduate Entrepreneurship Program by the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE).

 

Student Ventures Win Next Level of Regnier Venture Creation Challenge

Last April, student teams representing 70 startups were competed in the 2013 Regnier Venture Creation Challenge. After an “elevator pitch” competition, student teams displayed their venture ideas in the UMKC Student Union exhibit hall and spoke to some of the 200-plus judges, faculty, and mentors in attendance.

$3 Million Gift to Endow IEI

The University of Missouri-Kansas City and the UMKC Foundation have received a $3 million gift from the Regnier Family Foundations to endow the Regnier Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, housed in the Henry W. Bloch School of Management. The foundations were established in 1990 by Victor A., Jr., Robert D. and Catherine M. Regnier to honor their parents' legacy.

In the paper "Reforming Immigration Law to Allow More Foreign Student Entrepreneurs to Launch Job-Creating Ventures in the United States," released today by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, a team of law and entrepreneurship experts from the University of Missouri—Kansas City (UMKC) outline specific measures to modify U.S. immigration law in an effort to attract and encourage talented international students to launch job-creating ventures in the United States.

 

Formzapper hopes to replace paper for small businesses

A UMKC Entrepreneurship Scholar started Formzapper, a Kansas City, Mo.-based company that launched its free trial system last month. The service allows individuals and businesses to sign up for a monthly subscription, create forms and securely send them to anyone online to fill out. Creating one form with five submissions is free, while two forms with 500 submissions is $15 per month. The monthly fee increases with the number of forms, users and submissions.
