REGNIER AMBASSADORS PROGRAM POSITION DESCRIPTION

Regnier Institute Student Ambassadors are currently enrolled masters and undergraduate students currently enrolled in an entrepreneurship major, minor, or concentration. Their objectives include: promoting the Regnier Institute to current and prospective students, as well as the Kansas City community; supporting and promoting Regnier Institute activities and programs; mentoring and advising students on entrepreneurial activities at UMKC and in the community.

Regnier Ambassadors contribute to the entrepreneurial culture on campus and in the community through interactions and connections with and between student and community entrepreneurs. Ambassadors give and receive the most value from the experience when they contribute time and effort to the Institute’s mission to work with others creating environments and collaborations that develop ideas and entrepreneurs.

Regnier Ambassadors are part of the “face” of the Regnier Institute at events and throughout their time as ambassadors for the Institute. Regnier Ambassadors will be highlighted on the Institute website with photos and bios; receive business cards, and a Regnier Ambassador polo shirt.

Term
The term for an Ambassadorship is one academic year.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Specific student responsibilities depend on individual area of interest and Institute needs. Ambassadors are expected to help in all Institute activities and take a lead in the following:

  • Student Engagement and Recruiting

    • Promote involvement in Regnier Institute programs among student populations and student groups; answer inquiries from and meet with prospective students; recruit and interview potential Ambassadors

  • University and Community Outreach

    • Host and recruit attendance for Regnier Institute events

  • Social Media and Communications

    • Administer Regnier Institute student social media sites, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube; work with Student Life to promote programs and stories

  • High School Recruitment

    • Assist in the development and implementation of a high school recruitment program for KC area high schools.

  • Programming

    • Coordinate student volunteer help for all Regnier programs and events.

    • Manage monthly “First Wednesday” event.

  • Entrepreneurship Career Support

    • Liaison with area entrepreneurial businesses and start-ups

    • Manage Regnier Institute Career Accelerator


Expectations and Compensation
Ambassadors are expected to attend regular meetings with Institute leadership and perform all duties required of their lead responsibility. The time commitment is approximately 10-20 hours per week including at least 5 hours per week in the Regnier Institute office (BEH 329). Ambassadors will compensated at $15 per hour with a maximum stipend of $2,500 per semester. Students who have conflicts should discuss these with the Ambassador Coordinator. Ambassadors are expected to follow all aspects of UMKC’s policies and procedures. The Regnier Institute retains the right to terminate ambassadorships without cause at any time.
